Gena is a skilled counselor, with a passion for supporting LGBTQIA+ members and anyone navigating mood and anxiety disorders. She believes that compassion and empathy are essential in understanding others. As a counselor, she is client centered and provides space that is welcoming and open.
She takes a holistic and individualized approach when working with clients and utilizes a variety of interventions based on client needs. Some common practices include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strength’s based theory, solution focused theory, positive psychology, and socioemotional learning (SEL). She supports clients with navigating life’s challenges, while also appreciating their strengths and giving them tools to make change in their life.
With extensive experience in multicultural competency and advocacy, Gena is uniquely positioned to support the needs of marginalized communities. She also has the distinction of being particularly skilled in working with and relating to emerging and young adults and also works with adolescents on a case by case basis.
Furthering her belief in the accessibility of mental health care, Gena offers her professional services at sliding scale rates to those who are uninsured and is skilled in providing quality care via our simple telehealth platform.
